Abq BioPark & Zoo’s Baby Rhino Chopper Is 3 Months Old Now

Abq BioPark & Zoo’s Baby Rhino Chopper Is 3 Months Old Now

The Albuquerque Zoo doesn’t have a time line yet as to when they will have baby Rhino Chopper in front of the public.  The staff are working to get Chopper on exhibit as soon as possible building a “baby proof” enclosure in the main rhino area.

When baby Rhino Chopper is moved into his new home he will be introduced to the adult rhinos. It is unknown how long it will take for the adult’s to accept baby rhino Chopper.  Once the staff is comfortable that bonding has taken place Chopper will be introduced to the public and ready to be enjoyed by everyone.

Hi John - Cool. I remember when you first posted about him - he's still a cute little guy, and will probably draw big crowds once he gets out in public.

That's one big 3 month old. I could put a saddle on him and ride him. Nah...I wouldn't do that. He's a cutie for a Rhino.

John, who would have thought that such a funny looking animal could be so adorable.

The baby is growing up and becoming a toddler or would it be preschooler?

John, if it wasn't for the massive food bill and what would prove to be an awesome yard pick up...I'd so want one of these adorable kids, lol.

John, I've never looked at a Rhino as being "cute" before. Baby Chopper is a cutie. I hope Chopper's transition to the adult Rhinos is a smooth one and Chopper gets to be in public view soon.

John  Chopper as a baby sounds just too cute.  Chopper as an adult sounds kinda like Jaws!  Great community blog.  You rock!

Hi John.  What kind of name is Chopper for a rhino?

Posted by Conrad Allen, Webster, Ma, Realtor (Re/Max Professional Associates) about 7 years ago

John, Mona summed it up quite well. Chopper looks like he has no problem putting on the food bag! Enjoy your day!

Hi John,

Chopper has been in the news lately. All about the age of the rhino and the visitors numbers being down.

Let it warm up a bit and the visitors will start flocking in.

Have a good day in the Duke City.

Best, Clint McKie

Thanks for dropping by to check up on Chopper.  If you read the other two links you saw Debbie and I were really pulling for the name Chumley but as time goes on we're getting use to calling this cute guy Chopper.  Who knows maybe we'll get to name the baby Orangutan when it arrives :)  Have a great day in all you do!
