Hummingbirds arrive in Albuquerque

Hummingbirds - Albuquerque

They’re back!   Hummingbirds have officially arrived in Albuquerque.  We’ve been waiting on the Hummingbirds to return to the Albuquerque and are excited that they are drinking away at our feeders!  This little Hummingbird seemed to be really enjoying his long drink, not paying any attention in the fact he was being photographed or that we were standing beside him.  We wonder if maybe he is one of our past Hummingbirds and knows he is safe in our yard.  Indeed we’re glad the Hummingbirds have returned in Albuquerque for another season of entertaining us in return for the free supply of sweet juice.  I did not retouch the photo only adding my ©.  Albuquerque Hummingbird compliments of God.

John,

I got goose bumps seeing your beautiful photo.   It also reminded me how lucky we are as they seem to be present here all seasons.  Everywhere we have moved, a humming bird has always hung out near us, and visited us.  We love them, and our cats respect them...They definitely are a gift!  A

Good afternoon John --- you capture nature in your photographs so well.   It's as if that hummingbird was posing for the camera.

Hi John,

Your photo is absolutely beautiful!  I don't think they're back here in Ontario, Canada yet, but it's nice to know they're on their way.

That looks like the ruby throated hummingbird. They finally made it to my feeder. I think they had a late arrival this year. That's probably because they were having too good of a time at your house.

John - I am always amazed at those of you who can capture Hummingbirds so well to pixels.  They seem so swift of wing, and I'm too slow with shutter.  I haven't been able to do as well.  That really is a GREAT photo!

Hummingbirds are such a joy to behold; they must be God's little gift to us to enjoy daily. I have several feeders and love watching them. Great shot, John.

Love hummingbirds, watching them fly and feed-I have a feeder and they come when it's warm and sunny, a wonderful sign.  This one is gorgeous-thanks John!

Wow what an awesome photo!!! I have two hummingbirds that come to visit on a daily basis. So they have arrived in Corpus Christi too. They are so fun to watch!

Great shot.  I have never photographed a hummingbird.  You should take lots of pictures to share.

Wow, magnificent shot!! You're right it must be a hummer that has visited before. We'll clean up our feeders and put them out now too then John. Let them know to come north! ;)

John,  Great picture that you got here.  It is the time of years for the yellow finches to start turning color and show up in my backyard.

Hi John, a beautiful photo of the Hummingbird. Is it a seasonal thing they do and then move on?

John (QMan)- I am pea green with envy!!! First I've not seen many hummingbirds in our area, and second, I've tried so many times to take pics of them when we lived up north.  They are so fascinating.

John...

This is an amazing and beautiful photograph! I am truly impressed.

We only have one kind of hummingbird here in GA, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. They are constantly fighting over our feeder even though there is plenty of sweet nectar for all of them!

They appeared early this year, and we have enjoyed them for over a month now!

Posted by Richard Weisser (Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers) about 1 year ago

Very interesting, John, our hummingbirds have been here since late Feb and then they stick around until the end of Nov - I thought they might winter in your area?

Posted by Karen Hawkins, MBA - Langley & Surrey, BC (Royal Pro Real Estate Network) about 1 year ago

Interesting, John.  Ours never leave and I would've thought your weather was mild enough for them to stay year round.  See - I learned something new today.

Hi John,

Absolutely great shot and beautiful hummingbird. We do not have this color in southern California so it is nice to see a different species. Thanks.

Dick,  I bet a few of these will be in your backyard in no time.  Get out the sugar water!

Laura,  Thank you kindly as always, we really enjoying capturing these snippets of nature.

Glad you enjoyed it Cheryl, I know we did and do!

Alexandra,  They hit us about April and head out again in about September.  We can almost set our feeders like clockwork.  We really enjoy how busy and beautiful these tiny creatures are.

Joshua,  I have to agree especially up close and personal.

Michael, I think this little guy was posing, they really are not terribly bothered by our presence otherwise that shot would not happen!

Hi Jo,  I bet they are making there way slowly but surely and working to empty some feeders along the way.

Janis, Prairie dogs are so fun to watch as long as they are in someone else's field or yard..LOL

Hi Debbie,  No doubt a Ruby Throat and the are sure pretty.  Glad they made it up your way to keep ya entertained.

Hey Myrl,  Love digital..I can erase all the ones I took that did not turn out.  This little guy was filling up before bedtime and was not concerned with my intrusions or the flash..brave little souls they are.

Toni,  I have to agree the Good Lord created these to be enjoyed by us un-feathered freaks..LOL

Joanna,  Thank you much, I have taken literally hundreds if not thousands of photos of hummers, this is one my favorites.

Elizabeth,  It's funny how protective they are of their artificial flower and nectar, once they stake one out the fight is on for any intruders and that is when things get interesting.

Hi Roy,  I take humming birds pics like you take flower pics.  The shutter is on rapid fire at times.

Hi Al and Peggy,  Great to visit today and so appreciate the call.  I will whisper in there little ears and tell um your feeders are ready for them.  Sending you a video I did and spoke of as well as posting at end of comments here.

Thanks Joni!  Glad you like it, one of my favorties

Pam,  We have a mutual interest then, I could watch hummers for hours and have..:>)

Thanks Michael!  Sugar em up and get em all wound up for a good fight.

Hey Will,  I don't recall seeing any yellow ones, but these Ruby Red Throats are abundant.  Enjoy them..good therapy!

Hi Irene, yep very seasonal, these guys know its fall before we do!  Nice pic of Boca Raton..I could live there!

Hey Michael, Purchase a  new one this year and they seem to like it but then if its full of nectar they are not very picky..LOL

Hi Mel,  Yep..God does share some amazing things with us.  We just have to learn to open our eyes and turn off the world.

Hi Kathy,  They really are fascinating and keep me occupied for a long time, well when I'm not occupied.  Glad you like the pic and appreciate your comments!

Jane,  That makes me feel really good to know you think so highly of my amateur photo.  I'm smiling and thanks for sharing!

Hi Rebecca...Patience is king.  Get very close to the feeder, focus on your target area and wait for them to come to you.  Put your camera in a speed burst helps too.  If I can you can!  Good luck and thanks for your vote!

William,  Yep its all that sugar they ingest..I would be hyper to buy have you ever seen an elephant fly..:>)

Richard,  Thanks for the compliments my friend.  The Ruby is the main species here, we do see some variety but they are prominent.  Some years we get a lot hitting the feeder and others years not so much..still early to know for sure.

Wow Karen,  That must be a different species for sure.  Our hummers winter in Mexico and South America  it's WAY to cold in BC for these buggers.  I know they live worldwide though and in some pretty drastic climates as well.  Thanks again!

Hi Juli,  I wish our would stick around but indeed the high altitude brings on some chilly nights for these little guys and besides it's  a quick flight to Mexico.

Toni, Spring time is awesome and new life appreciated including the hummers.

Hey Debra,  Glad you like the shot and always appreciate you dropping in.

Kristin,  There are so many varieties and each of them beautiful.  As usual with Birds the males are so pretty.  unlike us humans..LOL

John, it was sometime last year I was out front late at night and saw what I thought was a large moth flying around our flower bed, turned out it was a hummingbird...they are definitely fasinating little creatures and I now see what the fixation is in regards to them.
