I hope you take time to read and absorb this post brought to us by Anita Clark. Please leave your comments and inputs on Anita's page. I TRUST you will tell her John McCormack, Albuquerque Realtor® sent you her way.
Do you blindly trust? Is it hard fought and earned? Do you trust deeply? Are you learning to trust (again)? No trust at all? Ask 100 people and you get 100 different answers, all correct, based on that individuals ideology, upbringing, and experiences.
As real estate professionals, we have to develop a degree of trust quickly or the potential client will move on. How do we do that when they bring their own views on what trust is, how soon it is given, how it can be taken away, or whether they ever provide it? For me, establishing early on in the fledgling relationship that I have their best interest in mind establishes a rapport and begins us on the journey of trust.
Once rapport is established, T R U S T takes shape.
Truthful - Always! Being honest has not failed me yet.
Reliable - Do what you say you will, when you say you are going to do it, in the manner you said you would.
Understanding - Listen intently, show empathy, and genuinely care that your clients are making the biggest decision of their lives.
Show-up – Mentally. Be prepared with the list of homes/alternates, appointments, community and covenant information, dues/fees, available amenities both on-site and off, etc. as well as a handy list of names and numbers you can call if something arises you are not prepared to answer.
Teach - We are trained in this profession, our clients are not. Providing as much information as they can handle in a manner they understand helps everyone in the home buying or selling process.
Trust is foundational to any relationship and should be nurtured and protected. In some instances, you only get one opportunity to prove yourself trustworthy...be ready!
