Snow on Sandia Mountain in Albuquerque
We just enjoyed a really nice snow cover on the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque! Most years and after a good winter’s snow we take a drive up the north side of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque to enjoy the awesome snow, views and just a good time. This adventure takes us through a small Village called Placitas NM. Just after Placitas NM we encounter a dirt road with a "Road Closed Until Spring..Travel At Your Own Risk" sign. We take the risk knowing we have our trusty Toyota 4X4 and continue upwards taking on the eight miles of snow covered single track road. The snow is pristine as not many take this path. We will see animal tracks and in some spots find slow running brooks and streams flowing downhill. We stop along the way to trek through the deep snow and watch our Mini Schnauzer Dixie kick herself into four wheel drive to plow through the deep soft snow. Once at the top of the Sandia Mountain in Albuquerque the views are breathtaking. This photo of snow on Sandia Mountain in Albuquerque was just too good not to share!
