Thanksgiving seems to be losing it's Thanks!
Is it me or has our economics, changing times and mad rush for Christmas seems to put a gargantuan squeeze on Thanksgiving?
We get a lot of hype for Halloween and then it used to be a prep for Thanksgiving, the killer food, the time to get together again as a family and what was once a Thanksgiving Celebration and a time to relax and reflect, a time to prepare for "Black Friday" and what used to be the real kickoff off the holiday/Christmas shopping season and a great time to watch some good ball games after eating way too much great food. Thanksgiving is also a great holiday to really slow it down to remember all we should be thankful for but now it seems to be a jump from Halloween to Christmas? Well what about Thanksgiving? Did we forget one of our greatest holidays in our mad dash for sales and cash?
Did we really forget how we were founded and what sacrifices our forefathers gave so we could celebrate and give thanks? With the hectic being the norm in so much of our lives and business these days, doesn't it make total sense to have Thanksgiving as the "Reflective and Thanks Giving" holiday that lets us slow down, enjoy family and friends and take a moment to really give thanks for all we have been blessed to be given?
I am not that old but, old enough to know, I dont like what I see and we need to put the "Thanks" back in Thanksgiving and quit the immediate jump from Halloween to Christmas. One of our greatest holidays is getting the squeeze and we need to bring it back to the forefront!
Peace, Blessings and a Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy your time with family and friends and take some extra time to truly give thanks for all you have been blessed with.
