Basically, this is a 7.5 minute video promoting the LG Optimus One, whatever that might turn out to be (I think it's a phone), and as such, it's a fascinating and beautiful work, well worth the time you will spend looking at it. I would recommend it on that basis alone.
But I think it's a lot more than that. It's a look at how an emergent technology may, sometime in the not too distant future, transform architecture. Mapping a 3-D projection onto a building facade is here today, as you'll see. Tomorrow, how about buildings clad in "smart skins", able to project any desired look?
Imagine a home with a substantial portion of its value derived from unique works of art that may be displayed on its facade - fantasy sequences, colors cued to change with the ambient background from the weather or the quality of light or even the mood of the residents, style and design and texture changeable at will. There's a whole bunch of new industries and professions waiting to be born here.
This video is yet another goodie I found on boingboing.net - a hugely entertaining site that belongs on your daily browsing list. Check it out when you get a chance - there's always lots of interesting and different stuff there.
