Would you let your mother meet a strange man in a strange place without anyone knowing about it?

Active Rain member and friend Pacita Dimacali brings our attention to staying safe.  A good reminder for all of us both in and out of real estate.  I'm sure Pacita will appreciate hearing from you.  See you in the Rain my friends!

Via Pacita Dimacali - ePRO, SRES, CDPE, MBA Alain Pinel in Alameda County CA (Alain Pinel):

Would you let your mother meet a strange man in a strange place without anyone knowing about it?

Then why would you, Mr. Buyer-whom-I’ve-never-met-before expect me to show you properties just because you emailed/called me for appointment?

Why do you think it’s insulting for me to ask you if you’re already pre-approved. Yes, you are probably right when you said it’s not a problem, and that you can get preapproved at any time. But how would I know that? I don’t know you from Adam!

Why is it so hard to understand why I asked you if you can meet me at my office first?

Why would you insist on meeting at the property instead of the office? As I explained, it’s my practice to meet with clients first, get to know what your search criteria are, your timelines, your financial wherewithal to complete a transaction, your qualification as a serious buyer.

A REALTOR’s job is extremely hazardous, and we take every precaution. Knowing who we’re working with is a top priority. That’s another really good reason why I insist on meeting at my office first --- I want to get a copy of your drivers license, give it to someone at my office so that there is a record of whom I am going to show property to.

Put yourself in my shoes: would you let your mother meet a strange man in a strange place without anyone knowing about it?
