San Felipe de Neri Church. Old town Albuquerque

San Felipe de Neri Church. Old town Albuquerque

The original church of San Felipe de Neri was started in 1706. Albuquerque experienced an extremely wet summer in 1792 causing the collapse of that original church. In 1793 the existing church was re-built and to this day offers daily and weekend mass.

San Felipe de Neri Church at Old Town Albuquerque NM

The San Felipe de Neri church is open to the public and welcomes people daily.  The creaky wooden floors, hard wooden pews and towering ceiling all excite the senses.  To gaze upon this 306 year old church and take in its beautiful adobe architecture is alone well worth your visit.  Once entering this master piece it’s as if the hands of time have been turned back and the beautiful and intricate religious figures, icons and images embrace your heart and sooth your soul.
