I had a really awkward yet funny situation arise just the other day. I was working with a very pleasant couple who are moving to Albuquerque from Texas. We were looking at about 15 homes this day alone so we were enjoying some good conversation between properties. My clients mentioned as we passed a particular Church that they were of that same
denomination and so we conversed about this subject a bit more. After brief pause and just a few moments later the husband states “I’d like to find a good topless bar”. I hesitated a moment then said something like as a man of faith myself I really don't know anything about them but I'm sure there are a few around. That was pretty much the end of that conversation as we approached the next property and I pondered what his wife was thinking, she never spoke a peep.
So we finish up the tour and I drop them off at their Hotel with several homes of serious consideration, I promise to follow up next day. I drive off and about 5 minutes later I get a call from the husband. John he says when I was talking to you earlier about wanting to find a 
Tapas Bar my wife thought I said a Topless Bar and she thinks you did as well, he explains further and with emphasis I am not at all looking for a topless bar!
For those who know me realize I am a bit hearing impaired and wear aids to help with the defect but I can assure you it has failed me on more than one instance and this was certainly one of them. At least in this situation his wife thought she heard the same thing but she was in the back seat. I bet he got an earful right after I left. We have laughed about it several times since and realize how close some words sound yet with complete different meanings.
